![]() Flying into Aukland ![]() I was greeted at the airport by a private driver in a Mercedes towncar. He took the scenic route to the hotel where I would meet my mom and the rest of her high school reunion gang. He drove me to one of Aukland’s high spots so I could get a view of the city. The high spot turned out to be the top of a volcanic crater that is home to a handful of grazing cattle. Look closely for the peace sign at the bottom… ![]() We spent a day in the Aukland area visiting the local rainforest and the black sand surfing beach of Piha beyond. First stop - a Maori cultural museum in the rainforest. ![]() Lush vegetation ![]() Mom enjoys the enormity of nature on the north island. ![]() Fern forests inland from Manukau harbour. ![]() First glimpse of Piha Beach. ![]() Mom and I growing accustomed to being on vacation. ![]() My mission… capture everything with my camera. ![]() Reflection in the Piha tide. ![]() Meeting the behemoth Sapphire Princess luxury liner. ![]() Mom and Velia… ready for a good time. All aboard! |
