November 5, 2004 - Election Blues

I wasted my whole day (it was daytime here) watching the election results come in. It was a long and depressing endeavor. The only upside was watching Tom Brokaw, broadcasting live via the internet, get punchy and start to slur his speech as his night dragged on.

I am so embarrassed with the outcome of the presidential election. Reelecting Bush is worse than farting loudly on the train, something I hope to never experience. The fact that we reelected him eliminates any creditability our country may have been able to salvage after four years of insulting the world at large. The last election was almost forgivable in the international eye, the conservatives didn't know what they were getting into, hanging chads, good old boy Jeb rigging the election and so on. The will of the people was denied, mistakes can happen... This time around the fact that we are a backwards country is undeniable, the election proves it. Our people condone a government that is greedy, aggressive, and downright unfriendly. How long will it take the american people to realize that by supporting this administration we are terrorists in our own right? How many people have we slaughtered to maintain our oil supply?

Peter emailed me this map to help cheer me up (Never loose hope, maybe Canada will take us):
