I got my first job lined up which is just a few hours per week, teaching young children. I am working for a Japanese woman who has an exciting approach towards teaching. It is more experiential and involves teaching the parents as well. I will work in the home of each family and she will pay my travel time and expenses. She believes that parents benefit from learning as well. They lose their inhibitions while learning at the beginner level with their children, and can then practice with the children between classes. She also set up some classes in an art gallery in order to teach English by talking about art with the students. Pretty cool. She previously worked for a graphic design and product design business (on the administrative side), so she is drawn to a more creative teaching style. She is very relaxed and seems open to a more flexible schedule. Since she also has weekday/daytime work (which is harder to find), I am hoping to get more work with her.
